Final Fantasy XIV Collector’s Edition and Release Date Announced
Originally posted on Eorzeapedia by Gahoo 06/30/2010The Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy XIV has been announced!
Included in this PC only special edition is:
Early Access allowing players to jump into Eorzea a whole six days before the rest of the world
Security Token
Behind the scenes DVD
Adventurers branded tumbler
Map of Eorzea
Travel Journal- A journal containing never before seen concept art
Free 30 days of game play
Guest pass to invite a friend to play for a limited time
Players will also receive an in-game item that sounds like it will shorten the time it takes to recover after a KO.
Information on the collector’s edition item, pre-order item and Final Fantasy XIII code item (gloves) are listed on the Japanese website and we’ll be sure to get that information to you as soon as possible. Pre-orders for the Final Fantasy XIV Collector’s Edition have already started. The Collector’s Edition will run you $74.99.
You can check out a video from Gamespot of the collector’s edition box on their website.
Along with this news comes an update to the official Japanese website for Final Fantasy XIV stating the game will be launching on September 30th of this year for Windows PC. They are saying that the PlayStation 3 version will be launching in early March in 2011. We should be expecting an update to the NA site soon so keep your eyes out for it!
Along with release date information, videogamer.com is reporting that a subscription for Final Fantasy XIV will cost £8.99, which each additional retainer costing £0.70. If true, this would have FFXIV using the same prices as they currently do for Final Fantasy XI.
Clarification
The community has been a little confused about the news yesterday and the difference between what in-game items are included (or not included) in the Collector’s Edition and the standard edition. We shot Square Enix a quick email to help clear the air. To put it simply, the Collector’s Edition only comes with the Onion Helm – it does not include the Garlond Goggles. We hope this clarifies things a bit for some people.
